LOCATION

Solo Experience Hotel is located in the heart of Florence, in the vibrant San Lorenzo district where popular culture mixes with the centuries-old history of the Medici family. Located between Piazza del Duomo, Santa Maria Novella and the elegant shopping streets, the San Lorenzo district is full of people, flavors and aromas that give modernity while maintaining the city’s Renaissance style.

San Lorenzo market, the tradition of Florentine craftsmen

San Lorenzo is a lively and authentic neighborhood, full of people and stalls positioned around the large central market. The scents, the noise of the ancient carts, the sound of the church bells make San Lorenzo a contemporary neighborhood but steeped in history and tradition. Here you will find handicrafts, leather objects, clothes and any type of souvenir to take home as a souvenir of your trip to Florence.

The Central Market | The best of local food and wine

In this neighborhood you will find many restaurants where you can taste some typical Florentine dishes, eccentric restaurants and any type of shop. The Central Market, inaugurated in 1874, is a must for lovers of good food and local folklore. On the ground floor, open from 10am to midnight, you will find all kinds of food products, meat, fish, fruit and vegetables.
The upper floor, recently renovated and reopened to the public, is a large covered square with culinary stands from all over Italy where you can taste different national specialties in a contemporary and original environment.

Medici, the other face of San Lorenzo

Solo Experience Hotel overlooks Piazza San Lorenzo, the beautiful square and the beating heart of the city, which has become a pedestrian area in recent years. Next to the unfinished facade of the basilica of San Lorenzo, which has been the cathedral of the city for three centuries, there is the entrance to the cloisters and Biblioteca Laurenziana (Library), a building designed by Michelangelo which houses one of the most important manuscript collections of the world.

The other face of the neighborhood is represented by Medici family. Within a few meters you can admire some of the majestic works commissioned by Medici including Palazzo Medici Riccardi, for decades the seat of the family that contains the amazing Cappella dei Magi, the Basilica and the Medici Chapels, an extraordinary mausoleum with the monumental tombs of the family including that of Lorenzo the Magnificent.
